With a shrug, Ashen clicked his tongue. It was a shame, total war would have been pretty cool to watch from afar, though he suspected rule under the Chiss wouldn't be all that nice. "Guess so. What about you? I mean...what's up with you? So eager to serve...that captain was quite...fond of you." He said. "You something like royalty....do Chiss have that?" He continued. "Cause seriously...if this goes south...I think I would rather go back into custody than have you get hurt....do we have that on recording?"

He thought for a moment if he should talk about himself, but there was little reason not to. He already told him his name and it wasn't hard to find out who was currently leading the Chiss defense fleet. "Well, we don't exactly have royalty, but you probably know, that the Ascendancy is led by the Aristocra - most important members of the ruling families, each ruling over certain aspect of the Ascendancy. My father is one of them. So in a way yes, I am "royalty". Not that it means much. Right now I am just a cadet in Chiss defense fleet, though that might change if this mission goes well." he didn't talk about the captain, who was elder brother. "If this goes south I have a blaster and I am also quite skilled in using it." he said.

Ashen found the Chiss society pretty fascinating when one wasn't under arrest, maybe he would write a book about them one day. They were more logical than the galaxy led many to believe, and were not fully xenophobic, just...reclusive. Nothing wrong with that in Ashen's eyes. "Interesting...ya know...there are few planets out there with similar structures but less advance." Ashen shrugged. "Regardless, if we get into trouble, lets try to safe..." Ashen thought about the nasty things the Chiss could do to him, and the things he could not imagine. "Like...seriously, what is the worse thing Chiss do to prisoners?"

"Well... Chiss don't really take prisoners. IF someone is foolish enough to enter our space we warn them... if they listen we make sure they know not to enter our space again... and if they don't we will destroy them. These slavers weren't the first to enter our space, so I suppose my superiors wanted to interrogate them, followed by quick death." he explain. Their fate was sealed the moment they entered Chiss space. "But we also hate to waste a talent... and you seemed competent enough to help us, so you weren't a prisoner either." he added. He was a guest. "Everyone who wants to serve the Ascendancy will get their chance... well almost... everyone useful..." he admitted.

Ashen pondered this for a moment, he wasn't the best at team work, but he wasn't stupid either. Allies were best when they were powerful. He had never been apart of anything, other than Team Crucifere. "Makes me wonder if I could ever become a citizen of the Ascendancy. I've never been apart of anything before. Then again, no one has ever asked either. Been pretty much just me..well this Duros took me in for his scrap shop, been working for him a little. Decided to take a few days off, explore a little." He shrugged. "Wait till he hears how this all went." Really, the Alliance had not done much sense whatever it was that happened many centuries ago. Which reminded Ashen: "The Chiss wouldn't know what happened so long ago that pushed the Imperials and Alliance back to their capitals would they?"

"It is possible. There are humans and other aliens being parts of the Ascendancy right now, many of them are descendants of loyal families, fewer are newly arrived, who proved their worth to Ascendancy. I am not sure, but I think there are perhaps hundreds of them in all the Ascendancy, I personally met only 2 of them." he explained. Ascendancy wasn't the friendliest place to aliens, it was difficult to get Chiss to trust them and even more difficult to trust them completely. But it happened... His next question was typical from someone from the core, whatever happened didn't affect just the Alliance and Empire, it hit the Ascendancy as well. "If they do they didn't tell it to me..." why would they...

Of course, he expected that kind of answer from Elim, and who would want to become a member of Chiss society. It was probably more difficult than anything most humans experienced. Still, it wouldn't hurt to learn if it was possible for Ashen to join himself. "I see...still." He made a stretching motion and stood up. "Would think the Chiss would have words for what happened. The galaxy is in chaos right now, there's no way the Chiss are feeling it. I mean ya got pirates in your front yard!" He walked around the cockpit for a bit, staring at the controls and various other nobs. "Nice ship...who'd ya take it from?"

"Like I said... they told me nothing. I am just a cadet... I bet my father would know. He still wouldn't tell me if I asked, so the point is moot." and if he knew he wouldn't probably share it anyway. Some thing were secrets for a good reason. "I have no idea who's ship this was, probably some stupid smugglers, trying to get across our borders... it was captured, upgraded and... re-purposed. It should get us where we need to go and in one piece." he said simply. Some smugglers had nice ships. this one was just... average. "Hopefully after this mission we'll get rid of these pesky pirates, slavers and others..." he was a bit positive about the result of this mission.

With a few nods, it all made sense what Elim was saying. Chiss were secretive, and they seemed to have a need to know hierarchy in their ranks. Cadet was obviously a need to know basis ranking. Odd things, however, came to mind. Elim was of a family where his father was in a powerful position, yet Elim was still a cadet. "Ever thought bout it yourself? Like...what do YOU think happened?" Ashen made sure to more emphasis on you. "I'm sure you think for yourself at times, being in a position where one day you may hold a certain amount of power above others you know now...these would be the kinds of things you would want to know right?" Ashen continued. "Me? I think it's propaganda. Alliance and Remnant just making up scary stories as excuses to keep from having to explain their selves for the lack of security they once promised the majority."

"Oh, very funny. Yes, I do think for myself... and it's obvious something happened. I have no idea what it could've been but it was something terrible. If I would guess I would say a super-weapon. Probably something that could use hyperspace routes to inflict damage across incredibly vast location... probably a desperate attempt that went horribly wrong..." that was his best guess. Had to be something terrible to hit every faction there was, from Coruscant to Bastion... and even Chiss. "I don't think it is propaganda... there are proofs all over the damn place... worlds devastated, ship debris..." heck the sector where he found the slavers used to be a Chiss colony. Nowadays it was dead... there was a small scientific station with perhaps 5 inhabitants. And Chiss didn't leave their territory without something happening. Heck they were patrolling the damn place...
