"Unit 17, proceed to sector 227.""Unit 17, proceed to sector 227." the cold strict voice incructed from the console. Elim changed his heading to said sector momentarily. It was several hours since he left the Warden in his patrol fighter and since then he found nothing! Some times he was thinking that the high command was sending them here needlessly, but since he had to change his route perhaps there was something going on? At this point he was hoping for anything to break the monotone patrol. His fighter quickly changed course and proceeded to sector 227. It didn't take him long to reach the his goal. And his computer indeed did catch something. At this distance it might've been a ship or a rogue asteroid. Might even be an echo. "This is patrol craft 17 of the Chiss defense fleet, you are entering a sovereign Chiss space. State your identity and purpose or you will be fire upon." he stated on all frequencies. Chiss didn't take kindly to visitors. And less so to invaders. This space might have been vacant, but still a part of the Chiss ascendancy!
Flying in space was not ideal for long distant traveling, not to Ashen. The blindfold made it even worse as he felt his cheeks fill with pile, and the roaring of the engines became deafening. Somehow, Ashen had become a prisoner of these...charlatans, someone must have figured out his identity. He bet it was those slave traders, he had information of an upcoming slave trade route with heavy traffic coming. But it didn't matter now, he was in cell, unknowing of where he was.
"Ya known, I think I'm about to throw up all over your ship's deck...oh yeah." Ashen spoke out.
"Quiet! We got the Ascendancy calling us out!" A slaver retorted.
No reply came. "This is unit 17, i have possible contact at provided coordinates. No reply so far, going closet to investigate."he sent his report. "Affirmative unit 17." was the only reply he got. "This is patrol craft 17 of the Chiss defense fleet, this is your last warning. You entered a sovereign Chiss space. State your identity and purpose or you will be fire upon, no further warnings!" he broadcast once more. There were some who didn't warn for the second time. Something was telling him it was indeed a ship. His patrol fighter was quite capable of dispatching all kinds of threads and he was planning to solve this one. With gunfire if needed.
It was over the intercoms now, and nothing could frustrate Ashen more than the fact that the slavers were stupid enough to try to escape through Chiss space. The man leaned up against his cell, realizing it was made up just bars, not the much more useful energy shields. Still, he couldn't see through the blindfold, but it only hindered him slightly, though.
"Could you guys be anymore stupid?" Ashen snarled.
He had a little trick up his sleeve...or well boot. Sitting down, Ashen blindly began to scramble for his boots. Inside would be a sos beacon. it would send a very specific message. Help. Finally he found his boot, slipped his finger through it, and found the device. He pushed the button, and now just had to wait.
"Sucks to be you guys."
No response was coming, but by now his sensors did 100% confirmed it was a ship. Elim's patrol vessel was quickly closing on the ship when his sensors caught another signal. A weak one. It wasn't broadcast by the ship but it came from within. Perhaps some sort of distress beacon? He once again activated the secure channel to the Warden. Patrol craft 17 reporting, the unknown ship refuse communication, but I'm receiving a signal from within. I suspect pirates or slavers with prisoners on board. I am on way to intercept. Requesting permission to disable the ship, he said. Moments later he got another affirmative. With that it was time to kick this into overdrive. His patrol craft was a light fighter, but with decent firepower. After all it had to be powerful enough to protect the borders from all kinds of threads. He had little reading about the ship, but he calculated the risk in his head. His ship was built for speed. It quickly appeared above the unknown ship. It's twin canons shot only few times, he wanted to disable the ship, not to destroy it. Changing course quickly to avoid possible return fire he let his computer calculate the damage he has done...
"Now they're on to us Jack!" One of the slavers commented. In the cell, Ashen just smiled underneath his blindfold as he began to whistle to himself in enjoyment. Ashen wasn't the best fighter in the world, but he was smart and always prepared. It wouldn't take long for the Chiss get to the slaver's ship and capture it. Or destroy it. The man hadn't thought about that...the Chiss could destroy the slavers for, what would be the point in capturing them? Ashen was sure that the trade route was being kept secret. "Hey-" But it was too late. Ashen felt the jerk of the ship lurch about as obvious shots were taken and landed. Shouts all over the deck could be heard, and sirens went off. Well, whatever the Chiss was trying to do, he did cripple the slaver's ship. Apparently a direct shot to the engines, the idiots had not even put up shields yet to protect themselves from incoming fire. "Well....we're dead." Ashen said with another snarky tone.
First flyover and it was over. The ship's engines were toast. If that bucket had any shield it wasn't active. Whoever was flying this ... ship was either incredibly stupid or it was a trap. But how could this ship be any danger to him now? Just to be sure he did one further flyover, blasting the ship's power distribution, turning into giant paperweight. Patrol craft 17 reporting, the intruder has been disabled. Life signs appear stable at the moment, requesting further orders. he once again contacted the Warden. "The Warden is on it's way to capture the crew, you will await our arrival." was the only reply. Elim waited, scanning the area for any other potential threads, but nothing was there. And soon enough the Warden appeared. Unit 17, proceed to board the ship, bay 3. he got instructed and quickly did just that. As he landed there was a chiss commando awaiting. We are waiting for you, cadet. Your orders are to join us boarding the ship. he got instructed. Elim was waiting something like this. It wasn't uncommon for cadets to take part it less dangerous operations as a test... The warden closed on the disabled ship, extending it's airlock to the other ship...
More commotion erupted on the deck, humans mostly, as weapons were handed out, and position taken. Ashen could listen to the sounds of clanking boots, and voices shouting. The Chiss had these people on the fritz. Suddenly, the lights were out, and a red hue erupted from the darkness as the ship shook from one more pass by.
Oh great, now it's even harder to see...doesn't matter, these bindings are on for good at the moment.
Ashen's thoughts were not depressed, but simply unamused again.
"Could you guys keep it down? I can't hear..." Ashen stopped.
There was a slight creaking sound, the sound of a tractor beam maybe. Yes, Ashen was sure that they were being pulled in now, any moment soldiers of the Chiss would bust in here, taking minimum prisoners, and probably keeping the slaves in shackles until they were sure they posed no threat. Least, those were the rumors of the Chiss people. Paranoid, superior beings. Ashen had always tried his best to stay away from them, they seemed too snooty.
"You're screwed guys. Better off surrendering." Ashen commented, only to get a whack of the butt of a gun to the back of his head.
"Quiet!!" Someone said.
Some sort of cutting tool started to cut through the airlock door. It had to feel like eternity, but it probably took just a few moments before the doors got blasted inside. But instead of the commando only few flash grenades flew in, exploding with terribly bright light and deafening sound. Just moments later two boarding pods tore through the hull of the ship. From them 5 members of chiss commandos and one defense fleet cadet came in. The commandos started shooting right away, moving from place to place, keeping low. The cadet...
Elim though they will probably blast their way through the main airlock. Seemed natural. He was wrong. Instead they crammed them into boarding pods. Those things could tore through hulls of battleships. If they were shot fast enough they could probably pierce this ship completely through. It wasn't exactly pleasant in there, but it was only a moment, before they got shot through the hull. The pod opened and the 2 commandos he were with jumped outside, shooting all around themselves. Elim joined them, came outside with his blaster ready... but by then most of the work was already done. Whoever these guys were they were no match for 5 commandos with the element of surprise. Elim shot exactly once, hitting some human into a shoulder. Then another commando unit entered through the airlock. It was all over in seconds.
It happened so quickly, Ashen very little time to duck and hope for the best. Sounds of metal screeching was interrupted as a bright light blinded the slavers with a loud boom. Ashen was now deaf, but thankfully, the blindfold saved him from the painful scorch of whatever that bright light was. It probably was a flash bangs. Very useful with breaches. Another sound came, deafened to Ashen, but the shockwave of metal clashing and piercing metal was very familiar.
Brief flashes of light illuminated the deck. Before Ashen knew it, the slavers had been cleared out, with all the slavers taken care of. A single slaver was slumped into his cell, obvious from the hand touching Ashen's back. Flipping over, he could only wait for what would happened.
"Herro?" Ashen said distorted from his deaf state.

It really was over. Elim was searching for a target but there was none. Most of the crew was dead, few were only stunned. If Chiss wanted them dead they would be. And their ship would be turned into a fine dust, blown away by solar winds all across the sector. Elim came closer to the one he shot. The guy was in pain, but he would probably live. "I told you to respond... " he said. There was some level of glee in the simple statement. The commandos turned the ship upside down very quickly. Elim, along one commando came closer to the cell. "What do we have here..." he said, pointing his gun at the two people inside. The commando next to him said nothing. His weapon wasn't pointed at anyone, but Elim knew, that didn't mean anything and the commando could probably shoot faster, than himself...
Ashen continued to to simply sit in his cell as the soldiers did their thing. It was only a few moments, though, before the attention was placed on him. Finally, he could kind of hear what was going on. Something about what was here, or what could be there.
"Sup, I'm the one who sent the SOS. Names...doesn't matter, but uh...how about we get these bindings and blindfolds off, ey?" Ashen tried his best smile of confidence. "Honestly, you guys ever heard of a thing called overkill? Flash bangs? They're slavers, not spec ops commandos!"
The man moved up some, so he was now leaned up against the back of the cell, not sure what he was looking at.
Elim looked at the commando, but he only nodded. Probably still testing how will Elim handle this situation. "Let us be the judges what is and isn't important. For example the second guy, trying to blend in with the wall... I take it he isn't a friend of yours?" Elim asked, pointing his gun at the other guy. Though he had to chuckle a bit. If flash bangs were an overkill what would he say to the two boarding pods that were stuck through the hull of the ship. "Have you ever heard about a thing called gratitude? Our "overkill" just prevented these...slavers, from murdering you horribly." he said, but quickly calmed down. Being smug wasn't something frowned upon among Chiss, letting yourself be provoked however. "Consider yourself a... guest of Chiss defense fleet... " he said in the same moment as the commando shot the other guy with a stun blast. The commando took of the prisoner's blindfold and freed his legs.
Ashen turned his smile into a smirk as his bkindfold was removed to see the blue skinned men before him. Now he was set and stone to get out. He looked behind him to see the guy hiding. "Nope, no idea who that is. Shoot him? He's just another mouth to feed, yeah?" Ashen said. It was safe to say Ashen only thought about himself, and probably didn't have friends. But he knew that when the Chiss said 'guest', he knew it meant prisoner until proven not a threat or guilty of any crimes. Ashen was certain he had actually not committed any crimes, ever. Selling information wasn't technically illegal, and he had never did it in person or with his actual name. With the bindings on his legs removed, he stood up and stretched. His hands were still binded but that was fine. "So...take me to your leader!" Ashen joked , he really didnt want to meet the leader of the Ascendancy.
"You will be transported to a... holding room. After you answer a few questions of course..." by now another two chiss came, they weren't commandos, just ship security. "Follow us. If you try anything, you will be shot, understand?" one of them said. They weren't the chatty types apparently. The other one looked at Elim. "Cadet, you will join us..." he said firmly. Elim was puzzled by this so he just nodded. So many test in one day? He wasn't all that surprised when he got patrolled duty. Patrols were usually boring routine, something he could do easily. He got a bit surprised to be sent to check an anomaly, that could be something beyond what his superiors believed he was able to handle. When he was allowed to attack the ship he was too excited to question it... yet the trials didn't stop. He expected to find 2-3 people as the crew of the ship, not this many. Sending him with commandos didn't make sense! And now he was not only allowed to speak with the prisoner, but now he should join the interrogation? What was going on? "I guess you will be lucky enough to "see our leader" after all..." he said. If the prisoner didn't try anything weird they escorted him into an interrogation room.
"Anything's better this pit, lead the way boys!" Ashen chuckled as he stood up to get out. Chiss had a funny way of being, they replaced words to make things feel more friendly, but Ashen was far from ignorant. There were few things that slipped by him, commandos meant that the Chiss were serious about keeping their area clean of crime. More so, it meant something else was up. Could something have them spooked? They did live pretty far from the Core, and there were plenty of things in the outer regions to scare anyone. Now, Ashen was amused. "I'll tell ya anything ya wanna to know. Im your guy!" Ashen assured them a easy and stress free conversation.
Thinking further, Ashen winked at what appeared to be the youngest of the bunch, he seemed somewhat surprised by all of this. Though, it was hard to make out what express the Chiss was really making. So strict they were. "Nice shootin." He complimented.
Nobody talked for the rest of the short trip. The guard took them through few corridors before they arrived to a room. It was pretty much empty. There was a table with 2 chairs. Guards took their guest to one of them and sat him down not really caring if he wanted, or not. As soon as their sat him down some sort of ray shield appeared, preventing him from leaving. "Wait here with him..." they said and left. Elim stood there with the stranger. He had no idea why... "So... how did you ended up captured by those slavers... they looked pretty useless..." he asked. They didn't even activate shields, didn't fire back and didn't even shoot when boarded. It was generally known, that entering even the remote parts of the Ascendancy wasn't a good idea. Chiss were isolationists and didn't take kindly to visitors. Plus most hyperspace routes to their territory were unknown.
While nobody talked, Ashen hummed a joyful little tune until they reached the room. Forever in Ashen's mind would this be remembered as THE Room. It was bland, nearly as boring as the cell, with all its kinks in mind, awfully small. It was a interrogation room alright. Ashen had figured, but the ray shields were a little much. He took in a deep breath, and relaxed. It wasnt long, though, that the Chiss who had what appeared to be a surprised look was talking.
Kid was probably new to all this, hell Ashen was pretty new to all this. He did make his points, however, the slavers were useless. They didn't know that, though.
"I mean...sure, to you guys maybe. But your Chiss. The Ascendancy does strike fear in the hearts of many. Besides.." His tone was suddenly very different. "You were quick on the draw, no way they would have won."
Ashen smirked again, then changed it to a big grin.
"Stun settings on their blasters moved faster than me. Why they were after me, I have no idea, but I'm told often about my handsome and desireable features." Ashen shrugged as he removed the grin.
"Thanks, though. If you hadn't been as quick as you were...or even close enough to get the signals...I'm not sure what I would have done." There was truth in his words, he meant what he was saying.
The human was right. Or at least Elim though he is a human. He wasn't a xenobiologist... all pinkish humanoids were humans in his eyes. Well his statement about not giving the slavers a chance. "That is the general idea, yes..." he stated calmly. He failed to see the human as desirable or handsome. But Elim wasn't exactly keen on judging human beauty. Nor man's. "Perhaps they were trying to sell you as a male slave dancer... or a... companion." he suggested, since the human apparently believed in his attractiveness. Most likely they were taking him into some deep space asteroid mining facility to work to death. "Nobody should suffer slavery. And while I can't assure you of your future the Ascendancy doesn't approve of slavery." it was possible he will be killed or imprisoned, but at least it wasn't slavery. In fact Elim was happy he could help someone escape slavery. The only question was - did he set him free only to get imprisoned again?
Ashen shook his head, of course there was no telling why. The man had no real idea why or how they found him. Sure, he knew about them, it was useful data, but he hadn't told anyone. Yet. There was still thag other issue, what would the Chiss do to him? "I think, we both know that Im an anomaly, and those are best dealt with...immediately. Least...that's how I would do it." Now, Ashen always fancied himself a silver tongue, and he still had plenty to live for. There were questions that needed answers, and he wouldn't get them just sitting here a prisoner of the Ascendancy. "But, I mean...we could work a deal."

"I could've easily destroy the ship, killing everyone aboard if I got the order... I didn't. So you are here... alive." he stated once again. He suspected that his superiors wanted to learn about these slavers. It wasn't exactly often for humans to arrive into their region of space. "Do you have anything that you could offer the Ascendancy? We are not without reason... but at this moment it's obvious you are at our mercy." he said. This human didn't seem like he had anything to barter with, certainly nothing physical. Perhaps he could offer an information of some value? As far as Elim knew this human could be a information broker or something similar. "You might to be serious... and honest. I suspect your future might depend on it... but what do I know..." he shrugged.
Ah, there were two sides to this coin and Ashen found that this was a deal he was worth giving information for. His life was way more important than losing information he could possibly make money on. "Aight, I got info on the slavers that you guys quickly dispatched." Ashen wiggled his eyebrows. With a sigh, Ashen sat up straight. "And I probably continue to give you information...for free...and the ability to travel in Chiss space...not deep Chiss space of course."
It was strange, that nobody came yet. They were probably busy. Someone will come, eventually. "Such deal is not unheard of... and if you could provide valuable information it would be worth considering. Are you in position of gathering and supplying such information? Everyone can stumble upon valuable information once... doing it repeatedly is slightly more difficult. Also I am not sure, if we required information on dead people... " he pointed out a flaw in the human's plan. Getting a new informer might be beneficial. Elim knew about one who recently got his head blown of on Nar Shaddaa. Of course it was more probable he will run once set free, but there were ways to remedy that slight problem
Ashen laughed at the end, it was funny that the Chiss thought that it would have only involved the ship and it's crew. Clearly, this guy didn't quite know how slavery worked. With a crack of his neck, the Chiss prisoner smiled.
"So, it works like this. Those men, they were just employees who had a shift boss. Now that boss has his own boss, and probably a few bosses down the line you get to the owner." Ashen cleared his throat. "This area is now part of a route, least it was if those idiots managed to get a message out first."
There it was hook line and sink. Nothing Ashen was saying was false, he had gotten in good word that this area was now slave trade route, and that it did hit a few planets before ending and having to return back to the original spot of picking up more of the product. Of course, Ashen told the Chiss all this. "And yeah, I can keep getting you more of this in better detail. It just so happens that I used to frequent those spots, got a few people that can give me data of comings and goings. People I trust...enough."
"Are these slavers that stupid? Trafficking slaves through our territory? There is just one way this could end... " even weakened as it was right now the Ascendancy still possessed powerful warships, far beyond what slavers could ever muster. Not to mentions swarms of fighters. "Though I suspect it could be... beneficial to eliminate these slavers before they could enter our territory again." he pondered. If this human really had information like this, he might be a valuable asset after all. "I believe we could help each other, but I can't promise my superiors will see it the same way..." he shared "Do you know, where we could find the main base of these slavers? That information might convince them..." he asked. There were several reasons he was doing this. First - he was a chiss and wanted to help the Ascendancy. Second - he saved this human once, it would be shame too let it go to waste. And lastly, this could help him finally getting a full rank...
Ashen nodded as the Chiss spoke, agreeing with everything he said, and he honestly did. There was no positive in humans pissing off the Ascendancy, they were probably the strongest fighting force at the moment. Secondly only by the Mandalorians if they could just get their stuff straightened. While all of it sounded nice, and Ashen did have plenty of information, but that was the downside: he did not know where the head honcho was. "No.." Ashen said as he leaned as close to the ray shields towards his Chiss friend has possible, "but I know someone who can point us towards him...will require a little bit of persuasion. You Chiss seem to be excellent at that. Guy named Ranten, Toydarian, little fatty that likes credits and women. Most of all, he likes spice. Works off of a ship that got permission to land on Cormit, that's in your space no? Get a hold of him, and you get the arrow leading you to slaver honcho." Ashen made a shrugging motion, it was the best he could give to the Chiss. It wasn't always, however, that the man had that much to give. "Look, I'll help. Keep the bindings on if ya want." Ashen bartered.
This human surely knew a lot. Elim doubted very much that most knew names of planets in the Ascendancy. And this one could be solved easily. There was a fleet station on Cormit. "If what you say is true, there is a very easy way to check it. I suspect that they are listening to us the entire time... by now they probably contacted the fleet on Cormit. And as soon as this toydarian comes close to the planet they will ... talk to him. And while I am sure he likes money and woman, he likes living even more. Call it a hunch, but I suspect he will be in sharing mood." he shrugged. "And that would probably go a long way to confirm your willingness to cooperate... " this entire dialogue he had the silly feeling someone was watching him. But not through a camera. He suspected, that one of these walls were actually transparent from the other side. And this was just another test. He wasn't sure if they are testing him or the prisoner. Probably both...
Slumping in his seat, Ashen sighed loudly. He looked around the room for a moment before deciding to start his own questions.
"So then, what now? I just sit here, wait for the council of Chiss to decide whether or not I'm allowed to go...what if the fleet is TOO much for one Toydarian? I mean, overkill...again. You guys compensating for something? Something you guys know the rest of us here in the galaxy don't know?" Ashen hunched over the chair as he placed his hands on the table before him impatiently. He was never the waiting kind of guy.
"Let's say they miss the guy, and it appears that I could be lying, hell lets say I am lying. As far as you know, I'm guilty of lying, and that's it. Want to pull up my records? I doubt there's even anything on me that could give you more than my name, and place of birth." Ashen was starting to get annoyed. "I feel like I've went from slave to prisoner...for no reason other than the concept of the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time."
"Let me guess... you have a dashing plan how to capture him, that includes you and is incredibly dangerous?" the young chiss asked right away. He saw nothing bad about using resources that were available. His next question forced Elim's face into a smirk. "Given that you are calling our space "the unknown regions" I think it's pretty obvious we know a lot of thing that you don't..." he said. There were dangerous thing in this galaxy, some of them unknown even to the Chiss, not to mention the people living in the core. Not to mention the dangers outside their galaxy. Elim shouldn't know about that... but since his father was part of the Aristocra he knew things... "So now you are saying we shouldn't trust you? You are not helping yourself right now... and no, these pirates were wrong guys in the wrong place at the wrong time. So far you were just in the wrong place... but at surprisingly good time..." he said carelessly. "... we usually don't take prisoners..." he added.
Ashen clinched his fist and gritted his treeth at the words this Chiss said. His impatients and human like nature was beginning to show. "Oh I'm sorry...you come to Coruscant, do we put you in chains and ray shields? I never claimed to know everything, just a lot!" Now he was over the edge, feeling the blood boil in his face. "Ugh!" Ashen laid his head on the table, its cool surface felt great to his face. How did he get stuck here, why couldn't they just let him go. What could he possibly do to the entire army of the Chiss? He was only one man. "Asher, Asher Crucifere. That's my name."

"I can't claim if you do that or no... I never been to Coruscant and I doubt I ever will..." he stated though somehow he doubted. His people weren't very welcoming to strangers. This guy probably didn't know how lucky he was. "Well, it's pleasure to make your acquaintance mr. Crucifere. I am Reze'li'malerion , but it might be easier for you to address me as Elim Alerion... " he introduced himself as well. He would probably say something different, but then doors finally opened and an officer entered the room. "... captain" Elim said with slight annoyance in his voice. "cadet..." he answered and then looked at the prisoner. "So, from what I ... overheard, you are offering to supply us with intelligence in exchange for your freedom and the right to travel across our fringe territories? And you already provided a possible source of information to solve our small pirate problem?" he said something, that seemed obvious. "And yet you disapprove of our little cadet's suggestion of capturing said individual. I am keen on listening to your proposal..." he said.
The feeling in the room turned into something more pleasant as Ashen started to calm down, he was lucky, after all. The Chiss could have simply destroyed the ship, thought the SOS was a hoax, and so much more could have gone wrong. Ashen thought about Elim's extremely long name that with some quick wits Ashen was capable of at least understanding the easier name was a Basic and shortening of his real name. The door opened, a much more chilling Chiss came in, and assured them all of what they had been thinking. They were watching, always. Ashen listened to what the captain had to say, realizing it was his time to speak. "The Toydarian doesn't need capturing, sure it's your world, but you're being too aggressive...again what you guys so hyped up about? I can easily get him to tell us what we want to know, I have information he will certainly want to trade for. This does two things, keeps all suspicious acts that the military would bring to a minimum, and keeps a little and very harmless informant in a comfortable, but yet known location. I mean, he only knows because the slavers have something of his...to which I know the condition of. His daughter." This was apart of the original plan, Ashen would get information on a Toydarian female slave, and in return the Toydarian would 'pretend' to do business with them to get an idea on who and where the boss was. Of course Ashen told them this part too. The little fat alien had some nasty vices, but it didn't make him a bad guy.
The chiss captain waved his hand in a gesture, that probably meant something to Elim. He spoke few words in Cheunh and Elim answered. Then the captain continued in basic. "I didn't come here to discuss our problem solving methods. Not do I expect yout to understand them." he said. Chiss felt no reason to explain themselves to outsiders. This was their sovereign space after all. "But your plan is not without merits. We are willing to let you solve this problem for us and acquire the information about pirates. If you do, we will grant you your freedom as well as the permission to enter our fringe territories. If you are still interested." the captain didn't mention what would happen if you refuse, then again it didn't sound like refusal would be a wise choice. "Of course if you decided to flee... or something similarly foolish... what would be eventually found of you would never be recognised as a body..." sounded like this chiss had a flair for dramatic
Ashen hated when aliens spoke in native tongue, but the Chiss were obviously secret people. The man knew it better to just shut up and listen. When it was all done and time for his answer, Ashen looked at the captain, then the cadet. "Deal." He said. The funniest thing about the entire thing that Ashen just finally realised. "You realize...you never searched me correct?" He winked. "Your ship's crew probably wondering why an SOS is being broadcasted from within its belly." Ashen began to chuckle, then what appeared to be dying of laughter.
The captain sighed quietly. This human was immature and gleeful. He might've been of use, but talking to him was intolerable. "The moment you entered our ship all your tech was rendered useless, why search you then? Whatever you had is now just a fancy paperweight." he didn't mention that the ray shield also blocked any signals beaming in our out. "Don't worry, once you leave our ship your gizmos will be restored back to their functionality." this dampening field was affecting all non-chiss tech. Or most of it. It served as a good way to avoid being shot at... or having any information about their ship recorded. "Perhaps it would be wiser to sent a... representative with you on this mission. To avoid further problems with the Ascendancy. And to keep you on task." the captain said.

Ashen quickly perked up as he knew he could have all kinds of fun with this. He pretended to ponder this before finally pointing at the cadet. "Can I take the squirt with me? Is that enough for you? Or do you want a armada right behind me?" He joked. In all seriousness, if he was to have anyone around, it would Elim. Mainly it was because he was pleasant enough for a Chiss, but mostly because he knew it better than most. Ashen would feel strange having a complete stranger following him around he knew little to nothing about what was going on. At least Elim knew the majority of the mission, and probably wouldn't just shoot the first alien to give him a bad look. "I like Elim, he knows the most of the mission already, and it would mean we could get it done and over without with minimum briefing, yeah?" Elim Alerion Alerion

The captain shook his head. "That is beyond the question. He is only a cadet... and a pilot to add to that. He isn't trained for those kinds of missions." he stated uncompromisingly. Perhaps even a bit harshly. "Actually this is my mission. I found the ship, I disabled it and I also was in the boarding party. I think I should be allowed to see it through. And yes, I am a pilot... but I went through rigorous training and I think I can handle few pirates in firefight." he said. "This isn't your choice to make, cadet." the captain stated the obvious. "No, it isn't, captain. But I am requesting to be allowed to prove to you, that I can do it. Also I've put some faith in this potential informant and I would like to see it through..." Elim said "I don't like the idea... but as you wish, go and prepare. I will sent someone for you, later..." he said. Elim nodded and left the room The captain faced the prisoner. "Now listen to me. If something happens to him I will find you and kill you, personally..." his voice was actually quite chilling

For a moment, the room was filled with two Chiss fighting with words and extreme facial expressions. While Elim felt he was more than qualified, the captain felt otherwise. To Ashen, this said a lot about Chiss society: they were too superior even to themselves. Finally, the cadet, Elim, was able to convince the captain that he could handle this. Then the captain turned his attention to Ashen, while the tone certainly terrifying, the man could only grin. "Aye aye captain!" Ashen attempted some form of salute. "So..." he held up the cuffs.

Captain pressed a button on his wrist machine and the cuffs just fell on the ground. The ray shield still stayed though. "Some says, that chiss are unable of any kinds of humour. While it seems you are unable to take anything seriously. I am warning you here and now - this jovial attitude won't serve you well. And not all chiss are willing to put up with such insolence." he said and put his wrist communicator closer to his mouth. "Guards..." was the only thing he said. Door opened and 2 guards entered. "Take this... guest into his quarters. Give him food." then he turned back to you. "Time is of the essence, so use the time you have well... " he said and deactivated the shield. The guards took Ashen (if he went quietly, if he tried something they probably shot him) into a small room. It was sparsely furnished, but there was a place to rest, a chair, a table and some food on it. The camera didn't even tried to be subtle though and it was obviou this room was heavily monitored.
On the other side of the Patrol vessel a young cadet was preparing. This time he wasn't in uniform though. He had some generic spacer clothes. He had everything he needed to prove who he is if required, but for this mission it would be much better if he wasn't recognised. From what they told him, they were preparing a shuttle for this mission. He couldn't sleep though. Last few days he had weird recurring dreams that puzzled him and he really didn't want to think about that right now.

The captain didn't like him, Ashen could tell, if the captain had it his way then Ashen would have just been shot and left in space as a cold frozen corpse. Luckily, someone was probably hearing this, and stood higher than Captain No Humor. That person probably didn't want Ashen dead, not yet. "Aye aye, captain." He said Guards took Ashen away, placing him in a more hospitable room with food and water. First went the water, requesting another cup after it was all gone. He did so politely, and ate his food while he waited. Somewhere else, Elim was getting ready for the mission while a human stuffed his face.

Ashen got decent amount of food and water. Not exactly all you could eat, but still enough to saturate anyone. In the meantime Elim managed to rest for a moment. He felt much better after that. But he didn't sleep at all. It felt like forever, though it was probably just few hours before the captain came into his room. Elim wanted to get up to greet him, but the captain just waved. "Calm down, I am not here in official capacity. Your shuttle is ready... you are prepared to go. But be careful, would you? I respect you want to prove yourself, but I would hate to write father about your untimely demise." he said. There was even a hint of worries in his voice. "Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself. And before you say something no, I am not trusting the human... but I think he could be of use. He seems skilled enough. But I appreciate you dropped by, but I think I should go..." both nodded and Elim went to the hangar. Roughly at the same time a pair of guards came for Ashen. "Please, follow us to hangar 2..." they said and led him into the hangar where their "new" shuttle awaited. It wasn't anything great, but it should get them where they needed to go.
