Kitt started slightly at Jack’s yelps. She guessed the compression had cooled the bacta a little more than it should. The anaesthetic should kick in pretty quickly though at least. She supressed a chuckle - there were tree-dwelling avians she remembered from her childhood whose calls were not unlike the noises the human was making, but she didn’t wish to be cruel. She made sympathetic noises instead as she finished up.
They were in the central room of the ship, a wide-open hold that spanned the width of Sikrit’s ‘wings’. The transparisteel window-walls, fore and aft, were perhaps the ship’s most striking feature, and a remnant of her history as a luxury shuttle. The centre of the room was taken up by the now-lowered passenger ramp and cargo lift and the magnetic rails that could take cargo into Sikrit’s fore and aft cargo-bays. Comfortable, but collapsible, furniture was placed about the port wing where Jack was sitting, while the starboard was currently empty, ready to be used either as more cargo space or converted into passenger rooms using fold-out partitions and more collapsible furniture.
Kit Turned as Jack pointed out the tractors visible though the transparisteel. “Ah, so! Commendably quick.” Uncharacteristically quick to be honest. Gatsko must have been really keen to get shot of the cargo. Bustling to the top of the ramp she shouted down to the droid, returning to her own language. “Hoi! Droid! See they load that stuff onto the lift. I’ll see to the loading up here.” She set to fiddling with the magnetic rail controls. There was quite a lot of cargo in addition to the valuable crate of crystals. She’d have most of the fore and aft holds full for this trip.

Taking in another deep breath, the cooling sensation of the bacta kicked in. He had never been so thankful for such a feeling. Already he was feeling ten times better than when the mammal had first found him in his self broken state. Ashen watched as she became what appeared to be excited over her cargo, shouting at the droid as she did her thing with the controls. That sensation was more bustling than ever now, almost too quaint to resist running to the crates to see what was inside. At last, though, the man controlled himself. Ashen focused on the sensation of the bacta, pressing the feeling of the crates far back away.
"So...can I help in anyway?" Ashen said as he stood up with a little grunt.
The wounds were still effecting him, but the pain and all were much more bearable.
"I'm not in a condition to lift or whatever, but I'll do what I can to repay you for this." He said with a sympathetic tone. "Besides...that squeal...was far from masculine...I gotta prove my man hood!!" He said while attempting to make a masculine pose.

Kitt chuckled at Jack’s antics. At least she knew it was male now. That could save embarrassment later. (She’d not quite worked out humanoid physiology. The fact that there were so many apparently similar species was a confusing matter to begin with.) The posing translated remarkably well though: males of her species were a little more fighty also.
The offer was something she hadn’t really expected, but now she considered it. She’d mostly got her system set up so she could fly alone, but the Unknown Regions were much further away than anywhere she’d been before and much of it was away from established trade routes, or any formal rule of law. While Jack clearly didn’t seem to be amazing in a fight, but he struck Kitt as reliable enough, and it could very well be that she’d be glad of an extra hand later on. “Perhaps. Might be out of your way though. And dangerous. Cargo is for unknown sector. Would pay of course.”

Ashen shrugged at her chuckle but made sure to smile, he was beginning to understand that the most simple interactions helped her understand him better. A shrug could be taken wrong, but a smile could be taken as good, combined the two and maybe one would get that Ashen was joking. He assumed of course. Aliens were all different, and for all he knew, Ashen could have just made it seem like he was interested in her because that's how her culture did it. In the back of his head Ashen sighed at that concept, it wouldnt have been the first time that had happened to him.
"It would be no problem, I currently am on leave from where I work so consider it a vacation? Payment would be unnecessary. The bacta is enough."

“No, no, not at all.” Kitt grinned back at the human – his motivations were strange to her, but she was happy her little act of charity was appreciated at least. “Long trip to just pay in bacta. But can work out something when we get there.” With practised manoeuvres at the magnetic rail controls, she started transferring the first of the crates into the hold and returned the lift down for the second load. “Relax for now anyway. Will show you rest of Sikrit when this is done.” Despite the odd circumstances, she felt better having some company along for this jaunt. It was a dangerous galaxy after all.
On the far side of the galaxy, in a spartan but comfortable room, a desk-console lit up with a message: Valued Customer! I am very pleased to inform you that the cargo you requested has been obtained and is now en-route to our arranged exchange point with my most trusted courier! I have sent a droid with the shipment to receive full payment upon delivery as agreed. I hope you will find the goods satisfactory and I look forward to many mutually beneficial transactions in the future!
Gatsko, C.E.O. Gatsko’s Used Goods Incorporated.
The reader smiled: the naivety of this core-worlder was stunning. A blue hand dismissed the message, then held down a commlink button. “ Jlird'isianu'nuruodo. Inform my assets on Celwis that they should expect the trader to arrive within the next two weeks. Remind them that damage to the cargo is unacceptable but… Crew expendable.”
Aboard Sikrit, Kitt broke out a small meal for herself and her new crewman as the automated rails finally completed the loading process. It had been a lot of excitement for her to go through without eating and she was famished. After all, she was never herself when she was hungry.
